One of the most wonderful writing styles I ever read. I loved the descriptions, the comparisons, the irony... yes, he's so ironic! Another thing that I couldn't help noticing was how the author brought images since the beginning of the story and kept bringing them over and over again in different parts of the story, even though those parts happened in different times with different characters. That was an interesting resource that reminded me of another book I've read, Pet Sematary by Stephen King. ]]>

The beginning is a bit confusing because there are many characters and it's difficult to separate who is who, who has which hierachy position. But after the plot really takes off, it is a pleasant thriller. The type you get curious to know what will happen. Page-turning, as it's said on the back cover.
It would have been more pleasant if I hadn't been obliged to read its 400+ pages in a bit more than one day. ]]>

I started this book thinking it would be boring, because I noticed it was this kind of brazilian rural life story, which in my experience is tedious. But I saw myself wanting this or that thing to happen and enjoying the story. It's a "that was so wonderful" kind of book, neither one that I wish to reread too soon, but I really liked it. ]]>
