This book is slow to start but easy to finish. I like his sense of humor and his writing style is very simple but clever. The best stories are about the crabby neighbor in New York, the time spent in the funeral home, and of course the novella in the back (where the title of the book comes from).

The Opening chapters of this book are fascinating! It goes into much detail of the exploitation and enslavement of the indigenous peoples of south and central America. Most of the history is new to me. One fact that still stays with me is that the shipments of gold and goods coming into Spain and Portugal, from their respective conquests, were actually shipped right back out to other countries because of their substantial national debts.

On the other hand, the following chapters a bit boring. I had a hard time going through the huge list of minerals that the US Corporations extracted in the 1800's. I couldn't even make it to the 20th century.

Nice book, especially one looking to soul search. It is one of the oldest religious texts in the world and still so relevant. I would recommend this to anyone really because it is so simple to read and good for the soul.

Go get this book! It's fresh and super quick to read. I really enjoyed it. It's a distopia book (like Brave New World, Time Machine, et. al.) with the premise that most of America has a direct feed to the internet implanted into their brains.

Favorite quote:
There's an ancient saying in Japan, that life is like walking from one side of infinite darkness to another, on a bridge dreams. They say that we're all crossing the bridge of dreams together. That there's nothing more than that. Just us, on the bridge of dreams.
