My father read this short story aloud to me when I was eight.
It made for wonderful bedtime reading, and inspired me to major in German literature (well, Kafka) in college. I like Metamorphosis, but I like a lot of his other stuff much more. My very favorite writings of his, actually, are his journals, because you can see where he makes the leap from observation to invention. Fascinating. ]]>
