The Irresistible Inheritance Of Wilberforce: A Novel in Four Vintages (Hardcover) by Paul Torday |
my rating:
|
Karen said:
"3.75 - Very unique read; found it in a British bookshop and enjoyed it. Great wine book (it's fiction, but it is a lot about wine). Am going to get his first novel and see how that is (I believe it won a prize or something).

"As always, she is an excellent writer who delivers a great mystery that is more literary than most "literary" novels. A great accompaniment on my recent trip to NY.

Karen said:
"I love Kate Atkinson, so I am hardly the most objective reviewer. I loved reading this book and think she is getting better with every one she writes. I will undoubtedly re-read it!

Bridge of Sighs (Hardcover) by Richard Russo |
my rating:

Karen said:
"As always, Russo does a fabulous job with character development; his characters stay with you long after you've forgotten whatever the plot was! I enjoyed this book a lot. Though it isn't his best book, it was a good read.

Later, at the Bar: A Novel in Stories (Hardcover) by Rebecca Barry |
my rating:
|
Karen said:
"2.5 stars (wish goodreads would let us give half points - a debut novel and not a bad one; I read the whole thing, but needed more work. I liked the community feel of the bar and the development of some of the characters. But overall, uneven.
