I savored this book!! At first I was wondering if it would be any good at all with the letters back and forth, but it was wonderful to hear from so many different characters expressing themselves in their own unique ways. I enjoyed all the rich characters with all their struggles and joys. This sounds like a book club that I would like to attend - perhaps Isola could make me an honorary member. She seems so real that I feel like I should write her a letter and ask to join up! LOL

I just finished listening to the last book in this series and I loved it! Wow, what an amazing finish. Watching Nathaniel grow as a person and as a magician was very refreshing. He went from a scared little neglected boy, to an eager pupil, to impertinent youth, to indignant teen who was pompous and worldly, and finally to the man who knew what he finally wanted in life. I both boo'd him and rooted for him during all three books.

And Bartimaeus was evil, kind, witty, honest, courageous, cowardly, devious and just charming all together! I will definitely re-read these books again one day just to revisit my old friends...

WOW!!! Lots of comments to respond to--Great!

I just finished the Bartamaeus Trilogy and LOVED them--the last book is the best one by far! Simon Jones sounded better the more I listened, but he is interesting to listen to and sometimes annoying still. I guess that is the price to pay for a good story.

I am actually on Lady Friday which is the 5th book of Garth Nix' Keys to the Kingdom series. I couldn't find them at the library and someone gave me the books so I am reading them all. Great series, but I think I'll finish reading the series before I listen to the audio books. I have to say that Garth Nix has some VERY interesting ideas... The last book talked about some military tactics that were amazing to me, like a moving puzzle. So, so good!

I have listened to Number One Ladies' Detective Agency - Liset Lecat and LOVED her voice. I could listen to anything she reads and will definitely have to add Don't Let's Go To The Dogs Tonight: An African Childhood by Alexandra Fuller to my to-read list.

Now I'm listening to Charlie Bone and enjoying it just as much the second time around.

I just finished up with Stephenie Meyer's book 'The Host'. I found myself taking the long way home every day just to hear more and more. It was so interesting and pulled me in so much that I was never really ready to turn it off.

Seriously, I just have to wonder where on earth authors come up with their ideas. I honestly thought that was one of the most original stories I have read/listened to in quite some time. Sure we have had stories with the common 'body snatchers' themes, but nothing that addresses the internal struggle like this.

Kate Reading was the reader and she has a mostly pleasant voice that draws you in. She chose a VERY annoying voice for the protagonist which bothered me, but that just made me dislike the character even more. All in all, it was pretty good - I think I'll have to listen to it again, just to catch some of the things I may have missed.
