I loved this book. The jumping backwards and forwards initially put me off a little - trying to work out where I was in time! Once I got into it, I didn't want to put it down.

It made me laugh out loud in places, and cry in others. I'm really glad I decided to read it before seeing the film. I now have it in my head and hoep the film doesn't disappoint

Thoroughly recommended

I read this book with my daughter Jemima - who is 11 and not a big reader. My love of it comes from the fact that Jemima was engrossed by it and has since re-read it. A gripping tale and insight into the world of autism. Highly recommended

I enjoy Joanne Harris' story telling, although I did find the jumping backwards and forwards a little more confusing in this book than in Blackberry Wine, which follows a similar format.

A good story line, with interesting characters and relationships. Definitely a good read.

I watched the film, then was so inspired i watched it again with my 2 children, (13 & 10 yrs at the time). It's a really inspirational story that brings history right up to date with American stuf=dents living in 'gangland' and the predjudeices they face - and overcome. The book contains extracts from the diaries of the students and the teacher. Read it, and get your children to read it - it should be on the secondary school curriculum.
I've only given the book 3 stars because, although interesting, it's quite repetitive and not a particularly easy read. Then again it isn't written by 'writers' its written as a diary by students!

I actually read the English version, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'and was totally hooked. Egged on by my son Alfie who has grown up with Harry Potter I've seen every film and read every book. Rowling is a great author who draws you into the story, and keeps you there.

This is an interesting book because you need to be in the right 'place' to appreciate it. I tried reading it many years ago and it did nothing for me so I stopped. A few years later I picked it up and read it from cover to cover - totally absorbed - wow - it could be said that it is a life changing book. I find myself refering back to it quite often

Although a big read, I really enjoyed it. WOW - what a life that guy has lived. Some of it is dark with crime, drugs and torture, while other sections are uplifting and inspirational. I'd definitely recommend it
