Bacigalupi is awesome! He brings a truly unique perspective to writing and his stories are some of the most disturbing yet satisfying fiction out there right now. ]]>
This isn't bad for a first collection. It had a few good stories, most were competent and only a couple were forgettable. It was nice to see Hamilton's writing outside of her usual series. ]]>
There was so much that could have been done with the premise of mistaken identity, a town filled with look-a-like people and an old vampire killing, but almost all of the promise was squandered. There was very little action in the book and it seemed like most of it took place in one hotel room. What little mystery there was was solved without any real detective work by Anita and the ass-kicking quotient wasn't up to the usual standards. I don't know why I keep reading this series. I guess I keep hoping for a glimmer of what made the first 5 books so good. ]]>
