As a fan of Neil Gaiman's work, I really wanted to like this book. Judging by the cover blurb and having been recommended this book by friends with similar tastes I should have loved this book. Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me.
I think it had all the potential to be a great book. Neverwhere has some wonderfully intriguing characters, such as Door, Hunter, and the Marquis De Carabas, but none of them are really given sufficient time to develop properly in my opinion. The main plot of the book is a good one, but I just feel it didn't get executed quite right. What killed this book for me though was the slow pacing. I can't tell you how many times I feel asleep trying to read this book!
Overall, it was a decent read. I don't regret having read it, I just wish it could have been better. Recommended to those who like urban fantasy....less
