Honestly, do you really believe the fact of being Christian is what determines if a person will jump in the flooding river to save the child? I think it is much more about the ability one has as a swimmer then any faith. Grandma May can have as much faith as you like and love her grandson as much as you like, but she won't jump in that river. It would be just stupid to die with the child. It doesn't help the child to have company in death. In the other hand, atheist lumberjack Moe, that happens to be a great swimmer would do it. Even if he didn't know or even care about this kid. I honestly don't think there is ANY difference between the behavior of a random christian or a random atheist in this situation. It is all about faith in one's own swimming skills, not about faith in god.

You have to be more specific on what are you claiming producees "no evolutionary benefit". The people most likely to benefit if I am a person compelled to jump into a river to save drowning kids are my own children and that is a hack of an evolutionary benefit. Be careful with what you claim.
I totally agree with Brian when he says "Morality and religion occassionally overlap, but they are far from identical." I see many commandments that have nothing to do with morality.
