Believe me, journalists aren't very tough. They drink a lot, they smell funny, and they dress badly. But I've never met a reporter I would describe as tough. The protagonist of Pardon My Body is an ex-newspaperman who butts heads with crooked cops, murderous gold diggers, and nasty musclemen. As if! Another odd little book from the vaults of Harlequin.

In this sequel to Breeding Ground we discover more about the giant spiders that have taken over England. Better written than the prequel, Pinborough's latest book is slowly building an intriguing post-apocalyptic world filled with warring spider tribes and giant rats. I keep waiting for King Cockroach to claim his sovereignty. Maybe he'll show up in the third book.

Ha! You caught me. The book is actually not very well written. And the whole milieu is kinda dumb. But I'm a sucker for these sorts of things. It's not a well-written book, but the story is compelling.
