This sounds fascinating. The "Counselor" title made me think he was a shrink at first, but your delightful review saved me from an embarrassing mistake (ala "Domain) :) Maybe when I jump back on the literary wagon I'll pick this one up.

I listened to this book on a recent trip to Rochester, NY (thanks for the loan Judy!) What a fabulous book! It's an interesting tale of adventure with twists and turns that mimic the river itself. I never knew much about Teddy Roosevelt, but after this book I feel like I know him a bit better, and I'm encouraged to learn more. I highly recommend this book. I will say it got a little slow when the author went on and on describing the jungle or something like that, but otherwise it was a fast-paced engaging read.

This book was interesting. The sample got me thoroughly intrigued, but then the first few chapters with some startling facts about Kennedy & Johnson almost turned me off. All in all an interesting book. I wonder about Mr. Kessler's politics since, the present Obama administration notwithstanding, all of the Democrats were terrible and the Repubs were wonderful (even Cheney so I REALLY doubt some of that). I feel like I learned a lot, and am more certain than ever that I'd never want to be a Secret Service agent. If the chapters about the agency's mismanagement and cutting corners are true, then they should certainly be investigated & resolved before something tragic happens. Anywho, I give this book 3 stars--worth the read but don't sell a kidney to get it.
