Ivy June Mosley and Catherine Combs both live in Kentucky, but they live in two different worlds. Ivy June lives with outside a small coal mining town while Catherine lives in Lexington and goes to a private girls school. When the girls are chosen to be exchange students, they get to spend two weeks at each other's home learning about their differences, their similarities, and ultimately themselves.

This story was touching and somewhat thought provoking. It was sometimes easy to forget that this story is set in contemporary times, with Ivy June's family not having a telephone or indoor plumbing. It was also a good look at prejudice from many angles. From everyday squabbles to major life dramas, the story would be interesting to read and discuss with older elementary students.

What would life be like if you already knew, as a child, who you would marry? This is what happens when Clare meets her future husband when she is six. The twist? He is a time traveler, so she won't meet him in her "present" until she is 20.

The writing in this book is extraordinary. The premise was unique and easy enough to follow with the changes in perspective. However, the story was not my style. I would have liked a different outcome for the charactes in the story - but that is just my own preference.

After the story is over, the question that remains is: which Henry did Clare really love? What choices did she make/what free will did she have? This was a great book for a book discussion.

Summers are always a time of change for kids, and is especially so for 6 ft tall (and still growing), 15-year-old Haven. Her dad, local news sportscaster, is getting remarried to the Weather Girl. Her sister is also getting married, to Mr. Boring. Haven spends her summer being drawn into one pre-wedding drama after another, wondering how their lives can ever get back to the happy, carefree days of her childhood.

Everyone who remembers being a teenager will connect with this story: discomfort with a changing body, best friends who suddenly become boy crazy, parents that divorce/change, and siblings who leave the nest.

I listened to the audiobook of the story, narrated by the talented Mia Barron, who breathes life each of the easily distinguishable characters. Her job is made easier by the beautiful language used by Dessen in her first novel (which I just realized was made into a move a few years ago - How to Deal).

I am a huge fan Suzanne Brockmann's work. Anticipating a new novel of hers is like preparing to revisit old friends. This novel was no exception. Sam and Alyssa are back and we know from the beginning that someone very evil has targetted Alyssa, thus beginning the suspense that exists throughout the book. Other characters featured are Dan Gillman and new character, statuesque and funny Jennilyn. Jules, Robin, Izzy, Lopez and others are also on hand. I enjoyed the story and the characters and I am anxious to see what happens with them next!

So, this was the first book I read entirely on my iPod Touch. I could not wait any longer for my turn on the library hold list so downloading it seemed like a good option. It worked out surprisingly well. What I missed from not having the print copy in hand was anticipating the pace of the story. When reading a book, I usually know how much of the story is left by how many pages are left to read.

However, on the ebook, I didn't clue into what page I was on until nearly the end. So, I was almost caught by surprise by the ending. Not because of the story itself, just because I didn't realize how little of the book was left at that point.

Jenna wants a baby. Her friends, aided by a few drinks, devise a misguided plan to help her out by seducing her ex-husband. While not my favorite romance novel plot, I enjoyed the first book in the series enough to keep going. Super steamy (enough to unravel your latest knitting project)and touching on some interesting deeper issues, I enjoyed the read. Looking forward to the next in the series.

The Mortal Instruments series continues with book 2. Clary has learned a little more about her family's past, but will that prepare her for the surprises ahead? To me, this trilogy is a combination of Harry Potter and Twilight with a dash of VC Andrews. Funny and full of tension. Can't wait to read the next one!
