This is the second British suspense/mystery I've read and haven't been happy with the pace of the book or the characters. None of the characters have much dimension except for one of the dead women! The 2 characters that I think were supposed to have much dimension were not (Simon and Charlie). Oh, well. ]]>

Really deserves 4.5 stars.
Walls is a gifted storyteller. I loved her book "Glass Castle" and this one does not disappoint. I would like to go back and read Glass Castle because this book tells how Walls's mother grew up which would probably shed light on Walls' childhood. ]]>

I listened to this book on CD. It is read by the author so it makes that much more meaningful. I loved listening to Buckley's indeterminate East Coast boarding school accent. ]]>
I really enjoy Christopher Buckley books and this did not disappoint. I love the way he mocks DC and the political scene. He is spot on in his mocking! ]]>
Good book. Good writing. Flowed well. I liked that it was a novel done in stories. That was a nice approach. Not entirely sure why it won the Pulitzer Prize but congrats to the author! ]]>
I liked this book and would give it 2.5 stars. Very quick read, funny, clever, sharp writing (which I like). However, it is NOT what it billed itself to be. It's not one womans quest for anything. It was simply a series of essays from a year of her life. There were a few instances where I thought she might be "going somewhere" with common mid-life issues and then it would end and she wouldn't address it again. So, it could have been so much more but with a funny viewpoint but it didn't happen. A little disappointing but still fun to read. ]]>
I typically enjoy Shreve's books but this one was completely forgettable. I didn't connect with any of the characters, nor did I care about any of them. I felt like the main character tried to have more dimensions but it just didn't come through. Also felt like the book was abruptly ended. Perhaps there was more but then edited or maybe even the ending was accidentally lost at the printers.
