I had a adventure a few years ago of hiking/camping in the grand canyon with my brother..on of those once in a lifetime bonding experiences, and was lucky enough to share it with some other friends too. From that experience and others of the last few years has lead to him becoming one of my best friends. A friend of my mother gave this book becuase i had told her that story and I really enjoyed the book becuase I could relate to it from that persepctive. I also enjoyed it becuase you get to understand the story of how Sparks became an author and his tragic family past. Very life affirming book - keep going for your dreams, live in the moment and never lose your sense of adventure or balance in life....less

This book needs a 10 star rating. It is the funniest book I have ever read. There is not a page in it that I didn't at least chuckle and some brought tears to my eyes I was laughing so much. It takes a comic, irrevrent and thought provoking look at Jesus early life as he tries to figure out what it mean to be the Messiah. It opens with Jesus at 5 years old popping a dead lizard in his mouth and bringing it back to life...so you get the idea...LOL
I've read all of Moore's books...if you are looking for a quirky sense of humor and off beat stories...he's your man...less

Saw the movie...had to read the book, or more accurately short story. This book has I am Legen and some other short stories. When I picked it up, I had no idea that Matheson's short stories in the 50's were the basis of some of the best Twlight Zone episodes, and many have been made into movies that I've enjoyed - even in recent years - stir of echoes, What Dreams May Come. Steven Speilberg's first movie Duel as based on a Matheson short story...less

Loved the prequel to this book - Pillars of Stone. This is about ancestors of the orginal book in England 200 years later when the plague was hitting Europe and how the different guilds controlled the trades, relationships between merchants, nobility and peasants. I love history and this helps bring it alive. Can you imagine everyone dying around you and not knowing how to prevent it, or once figuring out being prevented from using the knowledge due to religious superstition?...less
