I visited Yorkshire (where James Herriot is from) last May, but didn't manage to pick up this fantastic book until mid-September. It is one of my Dad's favorites, and now I can see why. Herriot is funny, genuine and oh-so British. His stories of animals and owners will warm your heart, and his description of the English countryside made me want to hop a plane and go back.
