This book would probably be very helpful for someone brand new to management; however, for people with management experience, this is really nothing groundbreaking (although it was released quite a while ago, so maybe it was truly groundbreaking at the time of its release).
Nonetheless, the principles of goal setting and evaluation bear repeating, and it was a nice (and QUICK) reminder of that. I purchased this in conjunction with the follow-up book about putting the One Minute Manager to work for you, so maybe my opinion will change after reading the follow-up....less

I first picked this book up about three months ago and just couldn't get into it, partially because I found the characters irritating at first (I am awful, I know).
I am really glad I picked it back up. I found it to be a bit of an emotional roller coaster, in the best of ways. I laughed out loud on several occasions (my favorite scene was the word association game at the psychiatrist's office) and really had to fight back tears at times. I loved the characters Oskar encountered along the way, and I thought it was both touching and incredibly sad the way the main characters hid their pain but also healed through their eccentricities.
It read pretty quickly once I picked it back up, and there was a lot of white space on the pages due to various drawings, etc. (which was a bit annoying at times, but not so much so that it would lose a star for me). Just don't read it in a jury room like I did, as I got lots of weird stares when I went from serious laughing to major sadness. ...less
