Off to a slow start but the scenes with the wolf are intensely arresting.
Almost done (after about 5 months of reading little snatches) and I am dreading the inevitable. ]]>

I think Tommy & Tuppence are the most fun crime fighting sleuths (and in love, to boot) to ever grace the pages of English mystery. There's enough action in each of their adventures to satisfy the Bond lovers, enough cerebral detective work to satisfy the Poirot lovers, and enough England to satisfy the Anglophiles. This particular volume is a real treat to read, and actually piqued my interest in the fictional detectives after which T&T are supposedly mimicking in each new mystery.
A great pick-me-up read; that is, pick it up and read it. ]]>

I was hoping to really enjoy this mystery because, hey, it's AA Milne for heaven's sake! Turns out there is a reason why this is his only mystery. And it's a real shame that I guessed not only the "who" (about as subtle as a charging rhino) but also the "how" after the first chapter.
With that said, it had its creepy thrills and flashes of true human insight, despite the plodding mechanisms that hindered it from being one of those truly delicious mysteries that keep you guessing until everyone's assembled in the dining room, ten pages from the end. ]]>
