I think it is true: self-help is masturbation. That being the case, this book really got my rocks off. It is handwritten with doodles and bits of colour and it's very light hearted and whimsical. Written by an amazing woman named SARK, it's almost like reading her journal in which she shares her little ways of making the most of life and seeing beauty in all things. I love it, and I'll forever keep it and read it again and again, passing it along to the passionate women that I love. I sat in Chapters and read the whole thing cover to cover: guilty. I've seen on the blog how people often say they have found secrets in PostSecret books in store. I was surprise to find one in the copy I picked up. It read: "I'm suicidal and I cry every night. I feel better when I'm around books."

There is no way you can read a PostSecret book and not be touched by the humanity it contains. Some secrets I relate to, others are as foreign to me as I can imagine. All in all, I think the PostSecret series is the best way to revel in and to feel better around books. Reading induces in me the same fleeting feeling as being completely comfortable in your skin.

This book in particular was structured in a pleasing way, beginning at grade school secrets and proceeding through a lifetime to autumn year revelations. An indulgent read for me. Usually I read things that are practical or a bit on the dry side. Picked up this bad boy at the famous Highway Bookshop in Cobalt on our way through for summer vacation. I just couldn't resist. I too used to gape at National Geographic for my wizened breast and penis gourd observing needs, except it was the 80s. We didn't have the internet back then, so it was the most explicit thing we could get our hands on. Kids today have it easy.

I though this book was really cute. It was just what you expected - a sort of amateur (but well strung together) folksy memoir about two chums growing up in Sudbury in the 40s, complete with all the trappings of a first generation immigrant families, growing up without plumbing or modern convenience, dealing with school and bullies, and discovering the fine line between repulsion and attraction to girls back before sexuality was hoisted into your face. ]]> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/63811629 to: Uncle Dynamite (Paperback) by P.G. I love Wodehouse in theory, but my interest seems to peter out about partway through his books. His character banter does make me laugh out loud, though, which is no small feat. Something about dry wit warms my cockles. Loved the first Wodehouse I read, which was Big Money. The last couple, however, have sort of died in my hands. Luckily, I have a wicked back piled stack to get through.
