I think he was short-sighted. He had waited for her for so long, and now she's finally showing interest, but he doesn't realize it's for survival only (or is it??). I think he felt a little betrayed, like she was only acting interested in him to get sympathy, help, or whatever, and that she was only caring for herself and not for him.

I'm surprised he expected it to continue after the Games. I mean, with how much of a hellish experience that had to have been, did he really expect her to want any reminder of the Games? Yeah, seriously. There's a girl at work that just read the King Follett Discourse for the first time; she got a copy from a friend, but it wasn't the TPJS version so it didn't have all the additional quotes (such as the one by BH Roberts), so I loaned her my copy of this book. I value this book more than just about any other (except my scriptures, of course). Just holding it makes me miss Nauvoo, and all the fun times, and the things we learned, and the spirit that was omnipresent there... Good times. ]]>
