This is a fascinating book. It was an easy and engaging read, but it also read like two different books--the first two parts focus on the epidemic in Memphis and the rest with Cuba and research, etc. Overall, well written and well researched.

I find the history and culture of the Bene Israel (Indian Jewish community) fascinating. The book was beautifully written and, having grown up between two cultures, I can relate to many of the author’s own experiences. Really worth a read if you have...more
