Ok, so the book reads like it was written for teenagers, which I can't fault it for since it WAS written for teenagers. But it is also quite entertaining and reminds me why I raid the children & young adult sections of books-on-cd for my commute. You want something fun to take your mind away from traffic...this is it. I've already requested the next few in the series....less

Lauren Weisberger is of course most well-known for her other novel, The Devil Wears Prada, but I actually thought this one was better and more entertaining. I do think a bit of it borrows rather strongly from the earlier novel, as if this was a second extremely-rewritten draft of one story. I'd recommend you skip The Devil and just enjoy Everyone Worth Knowing instead....less

This is my favorite book by Jodi Picoult. It is a heart wrenching tale and one of the few novels by her that aren't completely predictable (although I felt the twisty end was a bit of an easy cop-out). I thought it raised good ethical questions and was truly relevant to modern society, which seems the ultimate goal for most of Picoult's novels (she just usually doesn't quite measure up to the task at hand). If you only read one novel by her, make it this one. Because if you don't like "My Sister's Keeper", I guarantee you won't enjoy any of her others....less

I read this one right after "The Tenth Circle" and gave it the same number of stars. In some ways it was better (the plot seemed more realistic, for the most part, and I was more engaged in what happened), but it also was fairly predictable and read as a bit simplistic at times. I did like the switching of POVs, but not the part mid-way through where one character is credited as if he was writing this book (I hate it when authors do that). Serves its purpose as mindless entertainment and, for this novel, she gives insight into Arizona Native American culture (the Hopi, I believe)....less

I really liked "My Sister's Keeper" and thought it was a fascinating take on a very current and controversial topic. This he-said/she-said take on the aftermath of a really bad night of partying didn't work for me and the running off to Alaska, while giving some interesting insight into the culture of the locals there, read as a cheap trick. After being surprised by a plot twist in "My Sister's Keeper", I was disappointed with how predictable the "truth" in this novel was...though perhaps it was predictable only because I have come to expect the twist. It is an easy read for a lazy Saturday and she does have some great lines, but it definitely is not my favorite piece by Picoult....less
