I didn't mean to get on a medical book kick, but Complications ended up being a great follow-up to the theory-heavy Innovator's Prescription in that it provided a lot of interesting stories that reinforced for me the type of change that Christensen, Hwang, and Grossman call for in the US healthcare system -- everything from the need to truly define precision-based medicine in order to minimize errors, to supporting specialty hospitals, to changing the business model behind the current general hospital, and much, much more.

As someone who can barely self-diagnose a cold, I was nervous that I'd get stuck in the medical terminology but Gawande's writing is colloquial and truly draws the reader into each story that I never felt the subject matter was over my head even though it obviously is.

A highly recommended read.
