It is rare that a book makes the reader rethink the world they live in and re-examine what they know about scent and the senses, but this book is it.

This is one of the most descriptive and beautiful books I have ever read. It is also dark, disturbing, and terribly subtle. The prose is, of course, fantastic, but it's the descriptions of scents that dazzle the reader.

A note on the ending (not a spoiler): perfection. Creepy, beautiful perfection. A few pages to the end I was thinking "how is he going to pull this off AND satisfy the reader at the same time?"
