Pretty impressive collection. You get a little weighed under by relentlessness of general downward spiral of most of the excerpts, but I kept going to the author index and going "who is that author again?" "why have I not taken this in before?". Because most of the writing is good or great, it becomes really difficult remembering who is who. I liked Cookie Mueller's writing a lot. Very expressive and funny.

That shit is haunting me...I know its all over mugtext. Damn. I wish I had dressed like Cave for halloween...I think I could get away with it bahahaha. I was too sick though and missed going to the church party as William Wallace...
I also missed some other stuff...I love sabotaging my own contentment, it feels great.
Not much else, I left a long rambling message on your phone. It included severe encouragement to you and musings to myself. Take that Nin.

This was working up to be a pretty interesting analysis of the mind and its layers of emotional and logical tendencies...it just took so long to get anywhere and as soon as the tables and diagrams came out, I lost interest.

In terms of being about human impulse to violence, or an ancestral memory of primitive behaviour, I might give it another go one day...
One thing I think makes me start books like this is the debate that repression might induce primitive outbursts, or the plastic environments and time-schedules we put ourselves in frustrate our desire for action and complication in life. That 'thing' that can be missing sometimes...
It definitely explains how unhinged people can be instead of just the good ol celebratory madness.
