Have you read the Vampire Chronicles (Anne Rice)? If not, get on it :) Definitely a series that will keep you reading :) I tried reading "Twilight" and couldn't get past page 4, I think. Kudos to you for trucking along :) Did you feel like you were 15 again? Did you start wearing black eyeliner and writing bad poetry? Hehe.

Superb! Wilkie Collins grabs you by the collar and doesn't let go until you've reached the final page. I'm not sure what this says about me, but I found myself rooting as much for the very bad guy as I did for the very good one, mostly because the bad guy is so damn interesting! Collins created a wonderful villain with Count Fosco, whose larger than life personality made up for a couple of character's complete lack of personality (I'm looking at you, Laura, Walter...).
The quasi-epistolary style is mastered here, with each separate character's account holding its own distinct voice. One tsk-tsk to Mr. Collins -- you've done a great injustice to Laura by not letting her add her voice into the mix. Then again, the poor thing is so frail, the act of holing a quill to paper might be too much for her.
