This title is on the Sunshine State Readers list for this year. I've never been much of a history buff, but this book could easily inspire young people to go and find out more about Teddy Roosevelt. Many of the incidents are based on the diaries and ...more

A nice, cozy story of a schoolteacher in rural England. I doubt if anyplace ever was as nice as this, but it was like taking a vacation to read of a kinder, simpler time. I've been carrying this book around with me for years. While it's not great lit ...more

I thought this was the best book that I had read in years. Rick Bragg simply tells the story of his life, his father, mother, and his brothers. It was not a happy life, but he's not complaining. It's more like a tribute to his mother, how she just ke ...more

Such a well written book, but so depressing. I loved the sheriff in this book. I even liked the young man who stole the money from the drug cartel. But the bad guy was so evil, I almost didn't finish listening to this book.

This was a re-read for me. Hadn't read it many years. It was just as good as it was the first time. I loved all the asides from Mrs Frankweiler. The kids were wonderful, typical siblings, yet also something special. When it first came out there was a ...more

I hadn't read an Anne Perry book in a long time. This one was really good. It dealt with a lot of women's issues, like poor pay and respect for nurses. One of the characters supposedly worked with Florence Nightingale in the Crimea. Made me want to g ...more

I couldn't wait for it to come out! I almost wish it weren't all over. I read it when it first came out, and I'm now listening to it. Listening to books is a great experience, and the Harry Potter books are as much fun to listen to as they were to re ...more
