This is a rare book that I liked a lot MORE at the end than the beginning. I picked up looking for a mystery, but it's really more of a psychological study of the main character (it is never a mystery what has happened or who was responsible). Well, this book is full of fun-looking projects.

What I learned from this book is that cookies are not my forte. Even after a semi-disastrous series of evenings in which Kate and I worked hard to produce the 20 gingerbread men she signed us up to provide to the kindergarten, I found myself reading the other recipes and thinking, "hey, that doesn't look TOO hard."

And then remembering my near-inability to even roll out the dough without it all sticking to the roller.

A-hem.

So, all's well that ends well. We produced the required number of gingerbread men. We probably used the wrong dough (there are several types offered in this book). But we got it done.

I enjoyed reading the book.

I put it back on my shelf.
