OH MY GOODNESS!!! I do admit that it took me a decent 200 pages to "get into" the book, I knew NEVER to give up on a Gabaldon masterpiece! Some of the story line was incredibly slow - William and the battles... and many past names and events that I've grown fuzzy on who did what to whom, (and which sequel in which it happened) Although the real biggies (Laoghaire, Geillis.. and the like..),I recall, but some of the minor characters I wish the author had recalled the story lines involving them just a little more - especially if she's going to make us wait 5 years between books. I think possibly they're minor characters from the Lord John series (??) I was especially amused to read of Ben Franklin and Benedict Arnold. It was only natural that the should cross paths with the icons of the British and America histories.

However, it was all totally worth it. This story of Jamie and Claire has blossomed into so much more - I know there are so many reviews that have not been pleased with the cliff-hanger ending - BUT - I don't think it's any moreso than her other books. Only difference - we had access to her other books, so the only break was to pick it up at the bookstore or library..... 5 years dry is gonna drive me crazy.. I know I'll have to re-read the entire set (awwww darn, reading all about Jamie alllll over again... ) just to be prepared for the next installment. ]]>
