This is a beautifully written story told through narrative poetry. It is perfect for middle grade readers. In my experience, it is also a good choice for struggling readers: high-interest material and not too many words on a page.

I have to say upfront that I am a huge Rumi lover. Perhaps someone who isn't aware of Rumi would like this book better than I did. It was a very surface-y, fictionalized account of the life of Rumi. Also, none of his poetry is in it so don't go readi ...more

Despite how creepy this book made me feel at times, I was happy I read it. More people than you think are crazy-pants, and this book lets you know that in very concrete terms.
