Cj is on page 114 of 260 of Racing for the Sun: giving up, I am obviously reading a different story than all the other reviewers - the violence and self loathing that permeates these characters is so pervasive and too depressing. The final straw was the tattoo scene in the kitchen. .. not bad, well researched for the time frame - reminded me of the movie Focus - a era where blending with the perceived norms is all - and failure was fatal.
