I forgot how much I love this book! Wilde explores the dark-side of human nature while still promoting his love for beauty, passion and experience. This is one of those books that I respect but don't enjoy. It is *really* dense, to the point that I had to stop myself from underlining and annotating almost every sentence. I found it easier to read the second time around and Conrad's style doesn't annoy me as much as it used to (especially when I found out that English was not his first language and he managed to put together such a well-written work!!) It definitely has some memorable scenes and lines (need I say 'the horror! the horror!') and its something that every English major should read a few times over. ]]>
