I was disappointed by Ines of my Soul. Isabel Allende is one of my favorite authors and I've loved all of her other books... but I just could not get into this one. I finished it through to the bitter end, but I never got to caring about the characters or the story. I was so happy to finally finish it and move on, although it did serve as an excellent sleep aid for the past few months....less

In my defense, I got this book for free. I was marginally interested because I'd read about the author's story in the news, and since it had such a pretty cover, I picked it up at a book swap place.
The book itself was pretty awful. It's chapter after chapter of this girl's trainwreck lifestyle... sex with random strangers, getting evicted from apartments, sleeping with old men for money, getting fired from her job. I would recommend it if you want to feel better about yourself, or if you're looking for some softcore porn. Otherwise... skip the book and just watch a Sex and the City rerun....less
