  	Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann. About 1/3 way though now. It started off stodgily for me, but I'm really getting into it now. Fascinating portrayal of a family in Germany starting in the middle of the 19th century. Interesting fact - this book was banned by Hitler.

    			  What a fun read! A little light fluff is good for a girls heart now and again, and Heyer provides a fun story with factual historical detail. If you are interested in this period of history (Regency England) - reading Heyer is a fun way to learn about the lives and social mores of the well-to-do.

    			  I first heard of this story when the '70s Japanese Monkey! series was aired in Australia. Oh I loved it!! All the fights, Pigsy with his appetite for food and women, Sandy with his dour expression and 'only if we have to' attitude, Monkey and the ever correct and annoying Tripitaka. So I approached this book with enthusiasm - and it was well deserved too. However - the book is an abridged translation of a very long collection of stories. I usually avoid abridged versions ... and this was another case of parts not running together well. Despite this, it is a fantastic story and I am grateful for the opportunity to read parts of it in English.

    			  A lovely warm hearted novel. I wish I could met Marian Keyes - she sounds as warm hearted as her writing! I've read quite a few of her novels, but not all yet. Lots to look forward to! I wouldn't really call Marian Keyes a chick-lit author - I wouldn't put her in the same category as Norah Roberts for example. I've heard her called the Maeve Binchy inheritor - and I would agree with that. In this novel, her characters are well rounded and each has her own voice. Reading it to yourself in your head, you notice that each character sounds different - different tone, speed of talking, intonations ... Clever! I imagine Jojo as being a fast talker, Lily as being quiet and well modulated, thoughtful, and Gemma as full speed ahead and full of joy de vivre. I also love the dialogue - the speech of the street, local slang, entertaining swearing. I can imagine the stress of Gemma's job as an event planner - I'm a bridesmaid for the first time and gosh, the thing!!! Heck!

    			  Lots of negative reviews about this novel by Bushnell. I am wondering though - it isn't bad writing. Bushnell reminds me strongly of William S Burroughs. He writes of the real dirty urban world full of unhappiness but gleams of light shine through. Sometimes it makes your stomach turn, but both write with 'this is how the world is, or at least - my world' with brief, to the point statements. Both are not overly descriptive - my husband says this is in the tradition of American literature. 4 Blondes is saddening - but for someone who also reads fashion magazines, I can understand the vapid meaningless world that some have manufactured for the joy of some and the woe of others. Being an editor of Vogue, Bushnell has seen the underbelly and is writing out her experiences.
<br/>
<br/>

  	Hi I'm a real life librarian and I thought I would contribute to this discussion. The radio play on cassette would be catalogued as a sound recording.I haven't got the item at hand so I can't give you a definitive answer. However, in the general rules in the Anglo American Cataloguing Rules, &quot;if a single statement of responsibility names more than three persons or corporate bodies performing the same function, or with the same degree of responsibility, omit all but the first of each group of such persons or bodies. Indicate the omission by the mark of omission (...) and add et. al. (or its equivalent in a nonroman script) in square brackets). ... If there is more than one statement of responsibility, given them in the order indicated by their sequence on, or the layout of, the chief source of information. If the sequence and layout are ambiguous or insufficient to determine the order, give the statements in the order that makes the most sense. If statements of responsibility appear in sources other than the chief source, record them in the order that makes the most sense.&quot;<br/>As for publishers and distributors: &quot;In giving the name of a publisher, distributor etc, retain words or phrases indicating the function (other than solely publishing) performed by the person or body eg: Printed for the CLA by the Morriss Print Co. ; Distributed by New York Graphic Society.<br/><br/>If you are still confused - look at the bibliographic record in a library or bookseller catalogue that holds this item. In Amazon, the details are : the Mind's Eye From Jabberwocky ... Publisher: AVC CORPORATION, JABBERWOCKY (1979) (this is for another item). So Mind's Eye produced it for AVC Corporation, Jabberwocky. So it would be &quot;Produced by Mind's Eye for AVC Corporation/Jabberwocky&quot;<br/><br/>I hope these tips help!

    			  I went to Readers Feast recently and when I saw this book, I pounced on it! I just love the Frost stories. Wingfield does a brilliant job in creating characters you can sympathise with, laugh along with, worry with - even if you don't like them particularly. I love the way Seargent Wells and Jack Frost are drawn - they have to be my favourite characters. In this novel, Frost swears more than usual, but then he has more on his plate than usual. I just love the dialogue - sharp, funny, ooohhh!! I can read them all again over and over! The criminals are all different as well, with different motivations and some of them are not particularly good at the chosen profession. Others are just too chillingly good.
<br/>
<br/>Read Frost and get hooked.
