Overall, brilliant. But I have to say that at points, McCarthy comes across heavy handed, for example, "He thought the world's heart beat at some terrible cost and that the world's pain and its beauty moved in a relationship of diverging equity and that in the headlong deficit the blood of multitudes might ultimately be exacted for the vision of a single flower." Ok, I get the idea, but is "diverging equity" and "headlong deficit" really necessary? What do they mean anyway? McCarthy doesn't believe in cluttering up a page with all kinds of unnecessary punctuation (quotation marks being one), but one could say the same of some of his descriptions. Otherwise, loved it.
