[close] Life is good and this past year has been extraordinary for me. It began with a major high--Amber Quill Press released the second of my House of Pendragon series, The Recruit on January 1st. The novel has so far earned several excellent reviews and two major award nominations--the 2007 Indie Excellence Book award for the electronic edition and the 2007 USA BookNews award for historical fiction. The Recruit was also selected as a featured book in the Holiday Author Fair hosted by the Indiana Historical Society. I was so proud to sit amidst all those other writers that Saturday afternoon.

In March my husband and I decided we were tired of the cramped townhouse we called home and started house-hunting. It took until June for us to walk into "our" house. I knew it the moment I stepped inside that Sunday afternoon. I knew it was ours--it felt right, had everything we'd been looking for. So July was spent packing and moving.

My daughter and four-year-old granddaughter spent the month of August with us, visiting from Alaska. The house rang with laughter and I loved hearing the splat of Tori's little bare feet on our kitchen floor. Loved laying on the floor side by side with her and coloring. Best of all was just spoiling her rotten with love!

September was spent finishing the unpacking I had put on hold while my girls were here.

I allowed far too many distractions this year to get in the way of writing. All I can say I accomplished with book 3 in my Pendragon serires is about 50 pages of the opening and several more of various scenes that I think might work in the book. Lin seems to be taking a break! I hope she returns from her holiday soon. But I did attend three Fantasy cons, plus tons of other self-promo!

I saw some amazing concerts and shows this year: Peter Frampton, a long-standing wish to see in concert! And I felt 19 again and like it was eternal summer! I had a chance to see Michael York in a production of CAMELOT. (The movie version of the show began my obsession with all things Arthurian and sparked the idea for Lin.) I love Broadway shows with a live orchestra! Not long after that I saw a production of SPAMALOT. Even though I knew all the jokes and could recite them, I still laughed heartily! Seeing RUSH perform was awesome! That band rocks. And I can't wait for tonight to see Rob Zombie.
