There is so much of sadness and mystery surrounding any suicide, and when it happens to some of your closest friends, again and again well...how does Toru handle it?
It's true, there are people who attract all the crazies ONLY just like Toru Wattanabe. Such people are called the 'common grounding factor'. The characters in Norwegian Wood if not just cuckoo seem to be the sort that color well outside the line and then display the end result with pride. Murakami seems to enjoy writing about such people who spill out from his imaginary world into ours through some spectacular literature.
This book is not as heavy in the soul transferring or the meshing of personalities as other Murakami books. A light reading but nonetheless excellent.
