Even better than the first book. I'm totally in love with Aaron at this point. Can't wait for the third book!

It's been a long time since I last read this book, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it. Jeannie's just so . . . capable. Captain Summers is a bit of a bully, but Jeanie can more than handle him.

I was relieved when I learned that Luc and Summer were getting another book. Of all Florand's characters, those two were the ones I worried about most in the long run. They both have major issues from their past to deal with, along with an inability ...more

The main story with Sam and Dellina was fun. It didn't depart from Mallory's typical cookie-cutter plots, but still, I enjoyed it. I skipped all the minor story lines, though, because the one with Kipling and Shelby was pointless build-up for a futur ...more

This is probably like a 3.75 rating for me. I loved Taryn--she's one of my favorite Fool's Gold heroines. But I couldn't quite give the book 4 stars because I felt like her and Angel's relationship fizzled a bit. It started off with all kinds of tens ...more

Cute, as expected, but I totally didn't buy Jack's motivation for being so closed off and for turning into such a jerk for a while there towards the end. I needed WAY more back story than I got to buy his excuses.

“Happiness wasn't a mystical place to be reached or won--some bright terrain beyond the boundary of misery, a paradise waiting for them to find it--but something to carry doggedly with you through everything, as humble and ordinary as your gear and supplies.”
Laini Taylor, Dreams of Gods & Monsters

Courtney Milan
“Miranda shook her head slowly. 'Good heavens. That's quite an act you put on.'

He drew himself up haughtily. 'I beg your pardon.'

'An act,' Miranda repeated. 'Stand as tall as you like, and frown at me all you wish. I saw you just now. You were feeding cats.'

'So I was. And do you make something of that?'

'You,' Miranda said daringly, 'have a kind heart.'

He turned away from her, the tails of his greatcoat swirling about him. 'Don't enlarge too much upon the matter. The cats were hungry. I had food. This seemed to be a problem with a ready solution. It's not kindness to solve problems; it's efficiency.'

'I stand corrected. You have an efficient heart.”
Courtney Milan, Unraveled

Rainbow Rowell
“I just want to know—are you rooting for me? Are you hoping I pull this off?"

Cath's eyes settled on his, tentatively, like they'd fly away if he moved.

She nodded her head.

The right side of his mouth pulled up.

"I'm rooting for you," she whispered. She wasn't even sure he could hear her from the bed.

Levi's smile broke free and devoured his whole face.”
Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

Mary Ann Rivers
“Then he was quiet, and Nina didn't have anything to say. But he stayed on the phone, she could hear him breathing, and so she kept it to her ear while she pulled out their plates, heated their food, wrapped utensils in napkins. He stayed right there, and didn't say good-bye until she did. He just stayed right there.”
Mary Ann Rivers, Laugh

Emery Lord
“I'm a taped-together girl, but I can carry my own baggage.”
Emery Lord, Open Road Summer
