[close] Jim Finley is a psychotherapist who has worked mainly in inpatient and outpatient programs with adolescents and adult inmates, primarily with addictions, PTSD, and severe mood disorders. Now partially retired for health reasons, still writing and doing some individual and group therapy, focused on adults with addictions.
Books in print: two coauthored with Brenda S. Lenz - The Addiction Counselor's Documentation Sourcebook, 2nd Ed., and The Addiction Treatment Homework Planner, 3rd Ed., and one written solo, Integrating the 12 Steps Into Addiction Therapy. Currently working on the 4th edition for the homework planner and reworking a proposal for a book on program design and management.
Home life: now living in Albuquerque, NM, with his wife Jan, a social worker, and their geriatric cat Casper. Current primary activity: being supervised by his 5- and 7-year-old grandsons while his daughter is at work.
This is a second incarnation after spending the first 20 years of adult life in the Marine Corps, retiring in 1996. Still interested in geopolitics, history, and militaria, writing for a progressive blog, Bring It On!, under the pen name Liberal Jarhead.
