I liked this alright, but it took me awhile to get into it. Allie was pretty interesting as a character, so I don't know why I couldn't connect. I did like this better than the Iron Fey book I read and I want to know what's up with the Cure so I migh...more

The addition of the suspense was a good call in this one, but I didn't feel like Spencer had as much of a personality as Cooper and Mac did. Makes me worry that all of Carr's heroes are going to be the same. Still good fun and I'll likely continue wi...more

Even trippier than the first volume. Hopefully I'll remember enough of this when the next one comes out for everything to make sense! These take much longer for me to read than many graphic novels do due to the complex illustrations and multiple narr...more

One of the things I like about these is that the romances are not one and done; since it's a series, Carr continues to grow the relationships from book to book. The Gina and Mac relationship and the complications they deal with from their families re...more

First in the Thunder Point series. Carr is a new romance author for me and I think she's a keeper. Love the small town and cast of characters.

This series is alright, but it's a little disjointed in terms of plot and tone. Also I knew who the vampire hunter was almost right away so got a little impatient waiting for the big reveal. Funny though which is a nice change from super-serious para...more

I loved this book even more the second time. A main character who actually grows and changes, a fascinating non-European based fantasy world and a really complex look at religion make this hard to beat.

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

Louise Penny
“But you want murderous feelings? Hang around librarians," confided Gamache. "All that silence. Gives them ideas.”
Louise Penny, A Rule Against Murder

L.M. Montgomery
“I doubt if I shall ever have time to read the book again -- there are too many new ones coming out all the time which I want to read. Yet an old book has something for me which no new book can ever have -- for at every reading the memories and atmosphere of other readings come back and I am reading old years as well as an old book.”
L.M. Montgomery, The Selected Journals Of L.M. Montgomery, Vol. 3: 1921-1929

L.M. Montgomery
“I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.”
L.M. Montgomery

Anne Lamott
“You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.”
Anne Lamott
