This definitely feels like a middle book. I spent a lot of time waiting for things to happen. Still enjoyed it, but I hope the third one's better.

The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens
I really enjoyed this one, although it felt a little long. I can't wait for Emma's book - she's definitely my favorite character. I do think the kids all read a couple years younger than their stated ages, but once I ignored how old they were suppose...more

Jane Austen
“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

Anne Lamott
“You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.”
Anne Lamott

Shannon Hale
“I think the only way to get through this life is laughing hard and constantly, mostly at myself.”
Shannon Hale

L.M. Montgomery
“I doubt if I shall ever have time to read the book again -- there are too many new ones coming out all the time which I want to read. Yet an old book has something for me which no new book can ever have -- for at every reading the memories and atmosphere of other readings come back and I am reading old years as well as an old book.”
L.M. Montgomery, The Selected Journals Of L.M. Montgomery, Vol. 3: 1921-1929

Louise Penny
“But you want murderous feelings? Hang around librarians," confided Gamache. "All that silence. Gives them ideas.”
Louise Penny, A Rule Against Murder
