added a quote:
"I searched my memory and recalled I had written Fred a coming-out letter in the early seventies. Periodically I got annoyed, testy, mad at the world, and would write bombastic letters to people I wasn't particularly close to, detailing quite explicitly my homosexual identity, not caring whether they would accept or reject me. I couldn't recall what set me off to write Fred. I might have failed a physics exam. Maybe someone called me a faggot on the street. It could have been Watergate. " — David Feinberg | |||

The field is by my house actually. Its an amazing place, sort of a gully that leads to a meadow and then into a valley.
I like it because its the only natural place near my house. How is Sacramento? I'm back in San Bernardino area, which is home for my family, right now, but I miss Sac. Its such a fun city. So much to do.
Does the plethora of comments I've received from you mean that your computer is working again? Can you send me musics (most especially blackblack)?
Hey, I started the Eggers book but didn't continue because I got caught up with some other books also.
I have been really busy lately because I just moved back home, and so I've been volunteering and looking for a job. I'll get to it though.
Derren Brown, Morrissey, House... I'm sensing a pattern here, could it be that you have something against the utter morons of the world? Yay! Let's go idiot hunting -- or, because there are so many of them, I suppose it would be considered a cull for the good of the environment.
I really should get more active here I suppose. Any suggestions?
But who cares what I think? Taste in comics, art and literature is all subjective really. There's no "good" and "bad" set in stone.
Yeah, they're really creepy. Really, though the hotels are basically the result of overcrowding. If you don't have space to build large hotels you have to get smaller and smaller, and space just becomes a luxury so they're basically inevitable.
New York is pretty much like that already, except maybe not quite. I just hope the rest of the U.S. doesn't become like that.
And I checked out the comic too and I didn't think it was that good. I wanted to like it, and it reminded me of "toothpastefordinner.com" which was cool. I did like a few of the strips, like the one about college and a few others, they made me laugh out loud.
I'll post a link to a whole bunch of comics in a note and you can tell me if you think they suck also.
Thanks Shannon. The images come from Google, I think. Mostly they just reflect my apocalyptic world-view.
The one up there is picture of what are called "coffin hotels" in Japan. They are hotel rooms you can rent, really cheaply just for a few nights, that are often used by Japanese businessmen on an overnight flight, but lots of other people too. They're literally only as big as a coffin and are tall enough for you to sit up in. They also come with a t.v. and an internet portal, but that's it. Also, William Gibson describes them in his twisted future in Neuromancer, so its just freaky that they actually exist. Says a lot about our world, I think.
Its no problem about the "fuck" content. Speaking of libraries, these comics are pretty funny:

P.S. Did you notice that less than a minute passed between those two commentings? That's how bored I am. If you were here I'd probably be annoying the bejesus out of you by whining about how bored I am and refusing to do anything about it. Since you're oot and aboot at the moment, I'm taking care of that oh-so-necessary aspect of my boredom via internets. Hooray for internets.
I think I'm gonna read a couple of books to fix the conundrum referenced in my previous friend-comment. Maybe Cabal? PATCHWORK PEOPLE.
Bro! I'm bored (and therefore boring). So I'm goodreads-ing. I'm sad because my to-reads shelf is once again more than 100 books ahead of my read shelf. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. :(
That was too many "fucks" in one comment for me. I just didn't like how it read.
Yeah, its hot, and what's worse is my air conditioner in my apt doesn't work. Nor are there benches outside of my apt, to sit on! So its either walk around or bake.
Did your graduation go well? If it hasn't happened yet, when is it planned?
Yay bockses. I'm excited. Also, less than twenty-four hours until I'ma be done with IB. Sweet lord Buddha I'm excited.
Guess who has 11 goodreads friends and 1111 books shelved (11 of which are suckysuckybooks)? It's me. One-tastic.
Graduation's June 6th. IB tests should be over by May 16th, so that's the day that school's gonna be over for realsies.
Also.
Books you need to bring:
odd verse effects
catch-22
i have a right to destroy myself
zombie survival guide
the bell jar
the coma
american gods
napalm & silly putty
ender's game
the eyes of the dragon
waiting for godot
still the mind: an introduction to meditation
life of pi (didn't you buy that? from the library. I think you did)
aaand...any palahnuik stuff?
That's all I can think of/find on your "own" shelf that looks interesting. Maybe you could also bring the gilda stories and the prime of miss jean brodie and into the land of the unicorns and the symposium and the devil's dictionary and go ask alice and 13 little blue envelopes...I'm pretty sure that's still less than 1000. Quite a bit, though. You could just bring the good 'uns of those.
Your goodreads comments, on the other hand, are interrupted by sporadic comments from not-me. How dare they.
Have you ever clicked "add as friend" for yourself? It's adorable/hilarious. (Hilariable. Or something.) It says:
"You can't be friends with yourself, silly!"
I <3 goodreads.
To be fair, my "to-read" IS pretty extensive. And I think there are some repeats, like in my "read" with how I rated each of the His Dark Materials books individually and then rated the series as a whole. I think I did that for a couple of series...Because sometimes the literary merit of a single book is different from its literary merit as a contribution to a series. And also because I like to look like I read more than I really do.
Hey I found a good video about "Intelligent Design" on youtube. I tagged Miller's book because of it, because he talks about the court case that determined ID to non-science, its main arguments, and the danger of ID in our public schools.
