i didnt like this one as much as the first volume. if i had read this one first i probably wouldnt have wanted to read the others. the drawings are still awesome, but i wasnt as fond of the plot. aliens are attacking london and destroying everything and it is up to the league to save the world, which seems pretty exciting but i just didnt find it very thrilling....less

having almost no experience with graphic novels or alan moore i have to say i was pretty impressed with this book. i didnt really expect the story to be all that awesome, i mostly just wanted to admire the illustrations, which i thought were very cool. i really like the premise of the book which is different personalities from other works of literature together fighting evil. i didnt really like how they were all for "the empire" but i could overlook that for the awesome illustrations. i didnt think the story was that bad, it was fairly interesting, there were some holes in the plot that couldve been better explained or gone into but i expected that with a graphic novel, i dont know why....less

this is the last book of the quartet and i think the most political. although the other three are narrated by minke the main character this one is narrated by pangemanann, the police inspector in charge of oppressing minke and all natives organizations. it is interesting to get the opposite perspective to the whole situation, but i would've liked to know more about what minke was doing/thinking during the book because i became attached to his character. also, this book goes into a lot more depth about each organization and seemingly irrelevant, less-developed characters who run them. i wouldve liked to continue on with the charcters from the last book more but it seemed like they were just kind of dipersed without much effort. over all i enjoyed the book, leraned a little about the struggle for indies independence, but i definately liked the other three better, my favorite being the first book....less

a look at the divisions among the elite in puerto rico about the future of the island. should it remain a commonwealth, become a state or become it's own nation? this is the question addressed throughout the story of three generations of a wealthy puerto rican family. the story also gives rise to other thoughts and questions on class as well as race.
the story is written as being narrated through authorship by isabel, the main character, but also gives the very different point of view of her husband quintin at intervals throughout the book, as he finds her manuscript and gives his opinion and version of events she has written in the previous chapter. entertaining read....less
