I love the prose in this book. I could quote it all day long. One of the few novels that makes me feel like I am reading a fictional story and traveling a spiritual journey at the same time.

"Only connect! That was the whole of her sermon. Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted, and human love will be seen at its height. Live in fragments no longer. Only connect, and the beast and the monk, robbed of the isolation that is life to either, will die."

That said, you should note that this is not a light read. At times the story line seems to drag for the sake of his extreme attention to character development, which to me was interesting but might get tiresome to others.
I read the Barnes and Noble Classics copy which had some really thought provoking commentary and early book reviews at the end. I think this would be a great read for a book club or anyone who loves a good English lit. book. ]]>
