A fascinating read. One gets the impression the work contains all the information available on Genghis Kahn which seems doubtful but is probably not far from the truth. THe first half contains the bio, and the second is dedicated to his heirs and a basic history of the Mongol Empire until its fall. But it is very interesting and eliminates most of the negative aspects of the Mongols that have cascaded through the history....less

By far one of the best novels I have ever read. The prose is energetic, the storyline fantastic, absolutely gripping. With this work Rushdie has catapulted himself to be one of my favorite writers, and this work is the newest member of my all time, top-five favorite books....less
