Why do I keep reading these books?
Same old story, but oddly compelling:
Our heroine Bella must remember that her very essence has the ability to turn boys into monsters (literally), but those very boys are essentially keeping her alive and always coming to her rescue because, of course, she is an 18 year-old girl and could otherwise not function without them.
Aahhhhh!
Whatever, though, just read it....less

Whoa, SOAP OPERA. Seriously, this whole book could be a story arc straight out of General Hospital, as that's where much of the book takes place. I know it's Jodi Picoult's thing to write soapy stuff -- and she does it well -- but I was not expecting just how sudsy this book got.
Also semi-spoiler alert, but there's a cheap shot disguised as a twist at the end!

Hall grew up in the New England coastal towns near my home territory, so this book was particularly engaging for me.
I think what I liked most about this book was the way the story was told in fragments and often jumped back and forth through time. I feel like that's often the only way the best, and most significant, stories can be told....less
