John Green
“Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself.”
John Green

Stephanie Perkins
“I wish friends held hands more often, like the children I see on the streets sometimes. I'm not sure why we have to grow up and get embarrassed about it.”
Stephanie Perkins, Anna and the French Kiss

John Green
“What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person.”
John Green, Paper Towns

Friedrich Schiller
“Did you think the lion was sleeping because he didn't roar?”
Friedrich Schiller, Die Verschwörung des Fiesco zu Genua

J.K. Rowling
“Are you planning to follow a career in Magical Law, Miss Granger?” asked Scrimgeour.
“No, I’m not,” retorted Hermione. “I’m hoping to do some good in the world!”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Pedestrian (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Nov 12, 2008 02:18PM
Description: Unrevised version - My first ever short story - Flash fiction. When you have no faith, what do you draw on for strength in the end?
Collector of Words (Short Version) (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Nov 12, 2008 02:17PM
Description: Original version of a longer, very different story. Grace Bealuze was a collector of words. Kurt wanted to read them.
Floating Back (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Nov 12, 2008 02:16PM
Description: Maggie and Thomas spent their more formidable years at each others sides. Now, grown up and apart, the cousins have one more opportunity to play. Based on the real life family reunion and childhood my cousin Jonathan (né Thomas Daniel) and myself. Just another exercise for my creative writing workshop.
The Re-Formation Project (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
8 chapters   —   updated Nov 12, 2008 02:13PM
Description: My first Science Fiction story. Once you get beyond the unbelievability of it all, you won't want to burn it. That's got to count for something. The world is about to end. God only knows the why or the how. But it is up to Grant and Camille to save it. Or so they think. A dystopian thriller? An end of days epic? A warning against the future? You decide.
Lambert Cusack, You Are Hearby Banned (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Nov 12, 2008 02:11PM
Description: Don't read this. It's terrible. But if you do: Lambert Cusack's novel has been banned in a small town in middle America. He decides to defend it. Based on the many times decent books have been banned for their "pornographic nature" namely John Green's Looking for Alaska. John's response is the foundation of this story. I hope he doesn't mind. It was a learning exercise for my college workshop, and in no way do I envision Lambert Cusack as John Green.
