Whether it be ghosts, vampires, gunman, car chases, secret agents, werewolves, or crazy mass murderers, this group is for you. In this group we'll discuss books that are considered to be in the horror, mystery, and thriller genres. Can't decide between Koontz and King? No worries, this group discusses a horror one month, a mystery the next month, and a thriller after that. You'll see all kinds of authors, such as: Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Thomas Harris, Robert Ludlum, H.P. Lovecraft, Bram Stoker, Anne Rice, and so on. So if you love to be scared, or if you prefer a heart pounding thriller than this is the group for you!...more

We are quite relaxed and have very few rules. Here's the deal: I tried some other groups here at GoodReads but either I didn't like the vibe, or their rules (some groups kick you out for not participating enough!) or didn't feel welcome and comfortable. So I decided to try to get a group of my own going. And here we are 6 years later! This is a fun, social, no-pressure group and I hope you enjoy being part of it.
This is a casual and laid back group of friendly, easy-going women readers with a variety of tastes.
Each month there are usually three categories to choose from. Sometimes we have polls to vote on books, authors, topics, etc. You can read one of the books for the month, or all of them, or none.
An ongoing feature we have is a "Member's Choice" read for the month.
It's been fun to: read the same book; discuss it as we go; challenge ourselves to read books we may not have otherwise chosen; and of course, expand our "to-read" lists as we hear about books from other members.
I always welcome input and suggestions.
Who is this group NOT for? only a select few: men; MEAN GIRLS; authors who are self-promoting, and women who try to come off as super scholars, and try to put down other group members for not being nearly as intelligent or worldly as they are, this is not English class.
Effective 2.1.13, we will no longer promote author's or member's books. Please do not ask me. There are plenty of other groups for that so please do not do that here. However, if you are an author who wants to join a great group of readers, without pushing your own works, please do join us!
Please do not start a new discussion unless you have contacted me and I have given you the OK. The exception to this of course, is under the Buddy Reads folder.

Where in the world will your next book take you? If you love world literature and exploring the world through books, you have come to the right place! It all started as a challenge on TNBBC in 2009, and now we have our own group!
Anyone can join and participate in the challenges at any time. Challenge participation is not a requirement of joining. Anyone who loves reading books from around the world is welcome here.
The main purpose of this group is to travel the world through books, experiencing new authors and cultures along the way. Want to read about the world? We have over 21,000 books cataloged by setting and more are added each month.
