This is a great listen and equally disturbing a far as her vision of society. I think it's so unsettling because it seems more than possible that something like this could happen.

Finished listening to Richard Matheson's short story collection, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet. Great stories and narrators that tell them well. Go to the link below to read or hear a review. Review includes 6 audio clips from the book I think you'll enjoy hearing!
http://www.audiobookdj.com/home/2009/10/...

Nightmare at 20,000 feet is a collection of 20 short stories. These are some of the best I've heard in a long time. Why? Two reasons - one is the way the producer handled the narration. Twelve different narrators are used. Only one narrator per story, but you get many different voices to listen to throughout the entire collection. And secondly, because for the most part, the stories are not gruesome but psychological nail-biters.

Matheson's writing is superb, the way he ratchets up the suspense. I've produced 2 versions of a review at the link below. One is an audio review which includes 6 clips from the book and the other is a written review with audio clips inserted in the appropriate places. I hope you give one of these reviews a look/listen. Not because my review is so great, but because the clips are a lot of fun and will give you a better idea of what you're in for if you decide to give this book a listen.
http://www.audiobookdj.com/home/2009/10/...

Yesterday was Ray Bradbury's 89th B-Day! That made me remember Fahrenheit 451 and I pulled up a review I'd recorded a while back to post on my site. If you've got 7 minutes, why not give it a listen & refresh your memory as to why this is such a classic! Clips from the audiobook are included in the review. http://ow.ly/kZce

Always Looking Up - by Michael J. Fox. It's a memorable book because Michael narrates - and once you hear how difficult it is for him to do so many things, you've got to admire the guy for mustering the courage/strength to read his own work. He does a fantastic job, but there are sections where you can hear his voice struggling - and that just makes the message all that more powerful.
