A great in-depth analysis of the Versailles Treaty and the fierce negotiations behind it. The negotiations of these 6 months in 1919 still leave a huge impact on today's geopolitical events throughout the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and even East Asia. Also, MacMillan presents a well-researched documentation of how these negotiations affected the decisions that led to World War 2. ...less

I liked the principles in the book, for the most part, but it didn't dramatically alter my worldview. I already value my time more than my money, and appreciated some of the basic advice for freeing up time. But as someone for whom reading the news isn't "work," and doesn't use email at work and only to keep in touch with family, the idea of limiting my exposure to information to save time isn't really something I care to do. I don't mind that much of my leisure time is spent reading op-eds and nonfiction books.
In the end, I enjoy Ferriss's productivity tips and the material he posts on his blog, but I still believe it's very possible to find a job that I enjoy enough to where I'd want to work more than 4 hours per week, so the end state or goal that is at the center of the book isn't something that I think is the ideal for myself....less
