I would like to be Zora Neale Hurston's neighbor. She has a spirit that comes out of her words and her story that fills me up in new ways that are all vaguely familiar every time I read her material.
She writes of Janie Crawford, a free spirit living in the southern US during the late 1930's, who has known being a man's workhorse and another man's adornment.
