Really like the world being created by this author. One thing that is really interesting about reading urban fantasy vs "normal" fantasy is that you have the same basic elements (vampires, lycanthropes, and the sidhe) but each other puts a different spin on them. Sometimes they are nice, gentle and simply misunderstood and other times they are evil and forces to be dealt with. Drake finds an interesting way of making them strong and doesn't back down from their basic strength but still makes you empathize and understand them. I still like the Mercy books better but this book made me like A&O more than I previously was. I started to read this and then found myself lose interest half the way through. I found the first book rather enjoyable and started to get hung up on the second. It just seemed to draw on for no particular reason. The characters were more shallow and fluffy than most of Lackey's books. She is one of those authors who has books that range from almost too intence to seemingly novice - this was definitely the latter. I also found it odd that her website had them in the wrong chronological order (or I am more confused than I originally thought).

I LOVE Jeremy. LOVE LOVE LOVE him! So it isn't hard to understand why I enjoyed this installment in the series. It was really great to finally hear about his and Clay's history and understand more about their relationship and what makes them tick. I also liked the small part at the end with him and Jaime again - it brought the book in a full circle that made everything nice and neat. Truly well written! ]]>
